Description

In this role you will be supporting our global technology team as Transformers Tank and Externals domain expert in further developing of our internal tools for design, verification and optimization of tank and external components. Your main focus will be on further improvements and verification of our software and expert support for our design engineers world-wide. Our software for Transformer tank and externals design is applied throughout the entire design process, from tender to order, all the way to manufacturing and assembly (also support for activities in the shop may be required).

Main tasks

  • Development of parametric models and providing expertise in mechanical aspects of Engineering design tools
  • Optimization and verification of tank and externals transformer design components and assemblies. Providing mechanical solutions to address the development requirements of projects.
  • Maintenance (testing, debugging) and further development of our design tools
  • Cooperation within tank domain expertise with programmers and software developers
  • Support users with resolution of issues, through Hotline or direct contact
  • Collection of feedback from our design engineering community
  • Support on standardization activities (technical standards, standard drawings for materials and components, etc)
  • Support on training activities (user manuals, courses, workshops, pilots…)
  • Research and definition of analytical calculation models for structural strength

Requirements

  • Successful study (Bachelor, Masters or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Willing to work in remote and culturally diverse environment
  • Willing to travel to any of our plants and/or suppliers, when needed (usually <20%)
  • Very good skills in English, any additional languages would be an advantage
  • Wide experience (>5Y) with PTC Creo Parametric or similar 3D modeling software
  • Experience with programming (ideally including ABB Rules Engine), any additional language would be an advantage
  • Previous involvement in design tools creation would be an advantage
  • Experience with design and, ideally, manufacturing of power transformers, any additional product would be an advantage
  • Skills in structural FEM simulation desirable, additional FEM would be an advantage
