The Distribution Transformer Application Engineer brings the knowledge of a senior specialist in our Distribution Transformers portfolio to Customers, ensuring mutual trust while also communicating the Customer technical preferences & needs, written and unwritten across the Hitachi Energy organization and helping to implement the BL strategy and supporting our profitable growth.

Your responsibilities:

• The Application Engineer will deploy her/his activities in full coordination with the WCFE, under the HUB M&S Organization and in continuous contact with the focused factories.

• You will be bringing medium-long term results supporting the sales team at the very early stage in pre-tender stage, through conceptual discussions aimed at: understanding spec and norms, squaring away doubts and misinterpretations, influencing technical specs, demonstrating technical leadership, contributing to the strategic understanding and decision-making process.

• You will carry-out technical meetings at early stage and organize the preliminary discussion with Customers focused on specific topics and more detailed technical workshops while deploying a strategic overview mindset.

• You will cover assigned regional markets, feed the HUB with Customer`s feedbacks as well as strategic marketing inputs to support the marketing analysis validation and competitive landscape in coordination with Global Product Marketing Managers.

• You will take responsible as coach and train WCFE and factory sales teams on distribution transformer technologies by acting as a central point of contact for technical discussions between demand/supply side.

• You will develop and implement KPI’s and targets for Distribution Transformers (Dry & Oil Type) in coordination with Hub Application Engineering Manager, to track customers technical presentations and influenced specifications, providing visibility of prospects and orders achieved.

• You will provide feedback to Global Product Managers concerning new product and service offerings requested by customers, participate at key tradeshows and customer events and monitor and report competitor developments.

Your background:

• Must have a BS degree (Electrical Engineering) from an accredited university. A Master’s degree is a plus.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical department (R&D, Design Engineering), Project Management, Product Marketing, Sales and Business Development in the assigned sector, associated with transformer businesses.

• The person in this role should ideally be, an expert in the BU PGTR product applications, domain of dry & oil type transformers is a must in addition to the market experience, to be able to bridge the technical teams to the marketing teams in the company.

• Ability to develop one’s own technical presentations, additionally use colleagues and BL technical presentations supported by underlying deep understanding of the topics.

• Excellent networking skills matured in a highly international organization, “leading by influence”.

• Be willing to work in a diverse, multicultural, and virtual team.

• Required to travel > 40% of her/his time.

• Intercultural sensitiveness is required, with good communication skills in oral and written, with colleagues from multi-countries for assigned region. The person had better have global experience in the past and a strong grasp of the English language.

• Ideally, should speak multiple languages.
