The Opportunity

Due to a recent vacant position within Our Tasmanian division in Hobart we have an exciting opportunity for a trade qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic / HD Fitter to join our team. In this role, your key focus will be to provide preventative and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of Hitachi Construction and Mining equipment. Responsibilities include:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing onsite repairs on a wide range of equipment
  • Attending to site breakdowns within Hobart and surrounding areas
  • Undertaking diagnostic work
  • Liaising with a network of customers within the territory, whilst building strong relationships
  • Working with internal technical support staff to achieve successful maintenance
  • Working primarily a Monday to Friday roster, this permanent role will allow you to access OEM training while you build a long-term career in a global company.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed and driven from within - safety takes priority over everything else
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Have experience, knowledge and understanding of civil and mining equipment
  • Have a strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously within remote areas
  • Have good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships
  • Have great technical knowledge and diagnostic ability (excellent technical knowledge of Hitachi mining equipment would be highly advantageous)
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and be competent in making decisions to support the customers
