We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Transformers business in Jefferson City, MO. This is an opportunity to work with engineering challenges related to specialty transformers. This role includes hands-on participation in different engineering tasks as well as communication with different stakeholders.

You can be a strong professional with several years of relevant experience or a early career professional with willingness and courage to test your limits in learning new things and taking on the challenges that are part of our daily work. Your responsibilities
Plan, conduct and coordinate various engineering development activities.
Prepare reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements.
Lead and participate in customer specification reviews and design reviews to ensure proposed design meets the industry standards, customer specifications and related standards. Recommend revisions when appropriate.
Provide timely mechanical engineering support to Engineering department as well as to other departments required for day-to-day operation.
Support in responding to customer inquiries
Provide technical support in development and qualification of new vendor and parts
Support in root cause analysis & corrective actions activities.
Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development and test, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information.
Consult with other engineering groups to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend revisions, as appropriate.
Design production transformers for 3PH pad and Unit Substations including the generation of documentation for Customers using 2D and 3D based software, this might represent up to 80% of the workload.
Your Background
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering degree.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical engineering field.
CAD, and Creo or SolidWorks experience
Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical Design experience in transformers
Working knowledge in transformer industry standards or similar (IEEE, CSA, IEC)
