Description

We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Transformers business in Jefferson City, MO. This is an opportunity to work with engineering challenges related to specialty transformers. This role includes hands-on participation in different engineering tasks as well as communication with different stakeholders.

There is more than one way to approach this role. You can be a strong professional with several years of relevant experience or a early career professional with willingness and courage to test your limits in learning new things and taking on the challenges that are part of our daily work. Your responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct and coordinate various engineering development activities.

  • Prepare reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements.

  • Lead and participate in customer specification reviews and design reviews to ensure proposed design meets the industry standards, customer specifications and related standards. Recommend revisions when appropriate.

  • Provide timely mechanical engineering support to Engineering department as well as to other departments required for day-to-day operation.

  • Support in responding to customer inquiries

  • Provide technical support in development and qualification of new vendor and parts

  • Support in root cause analysis & corrective actions activities.

  • Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development and test, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information.

  • Consult with other engineering groups to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend revisions, as appropriate.

  • Design production transformers for 3PH pad and Unit Substations including the generation of documentation for Customers using 2D and 3D based software, this might represent up to 80% of the workload.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering degree.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical engineering field.

  • CAD, and Creo or SolidWorks experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical Design experience in transformers

  • Working knowledge in transformer industry standards or similar (IEEE, CSA, IEC)
