Accountabilities:
- During the commissioning period, monitor and control train movements within the assigned automatic train control area, adhering to established schedules, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with test and commissioning engineers, train operators, stewards, and other personnel to facilitate smooth and punctual train operations in support of commissioning.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, breakdowns, and incidents such as medical emergencies, fires, accidents, and security threats.
- Ensure work permits are in place and control access to work zones according to procedure and allocation.
- Monitor, track, and record outcomes of commissioning tests and provide results in consolidated reports or data sets as required.
- Supervision of Low, Medium and High Voltage switchboards as well as Local and Remote control and operation of Electrical Substations.
- Communicate with centralized control centers, station personnel, and other departments using radio, telephone, and other communication systems to relay information and issue instructions.
- Maintain constant vigilance over train movements, platform activities, and track conditions to mitigate potential hazards.
- Use software applications to retrieve and analyze system information, other test related data.
- Operate track switches, signals, and other equipment to divert train traffic whenever necessary or instructed by the commissioning team.
- Report any abnormalities or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
- Supervise and enforce compliance with safety rules, regulations, and policies.
- Participate in training, workshops, and meetings to stay updated on system changes, emergency response protocols, and safety procedures.
- Provide on the job (OJT) training for newly hired or promoted Traffic Control Officers.
- Design, implement and review training materials and courses for staff and contractors related to Construction Rail Operations Rules (CROR).
- Generate detailed reports and incident logs, documenting any anomalies, accidents, or deviations from established procedures.
- Collaborate with other traffic control officers, maintenance personnel, and external agencies to improve system performance, develop contingency plans, and implement schedule changes.
- Conduct analysis of system layouts and functionalities for useability and integration into revenue service systems.
Required Skills/ Knowledge:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical or vocational training is a plus).
- Experience in railway operations, air traffic control, project management, dispatch or a related field.
- Knowledge of train control system operations, rules, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Sound judgment and ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies or stressful situations.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, software applications, and communication devices.
- Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call basis.
- Must pass background checks, drug screenings, and medical examinations.
