Summary of the position:

This role is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting buildings, grounds, and manufacturing equipment. The Facility Maintenance Technician will aid in the implementation of facility related projects.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • 3+ years prior experience as a mechanic, repair technician with an understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and/or refrigeration systems.
  • 1+ year proven experience effectively troubleshooting and utilizing root cause analysis skills, with ability to provide mistake-proofed solutions.
  • Ensures operational availability of machinery and facility equipment by completing corrective & preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, and lifting devices.
  • Following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Uses hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Operates powered industrial vehicles, forklifts, boom and scissor lifts.
  • Completes corrective & preventative maintenance activities related to maintaining wastewater treatment and other facility equipment.
  • Completes corrective & preventative maintenance activities related to regulatory demands in a safety focused manufacturing environment. 
  • Completes facility modification projects including equipment moves, installations and improvements.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school education or equivalent.

Professional experience:

  • Basic reading skills necessary to perform the functions of the job.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on electrical components, tooling, and mechanical repair.
  • HVAC certification and refrigerant reclaim certification preferred.
  • Ability to rebuild, retrofit and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is highly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email).
  • 1+ year experience using precision measurement devices required (i.e., pressure gauges, meters, etc.).
  • 1+ year experience working knowledge of machine shop and/or manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • 1+ year experience understanding technical blueprints, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder logic preferred.
  • Prior demonstrated experience with troubleshooting equipment effectively required.
  • Working knowledge of electronics and refrigeration required.
  • Experience with fabrication using a welder, torch, plasma cutter.
  • Experience with sourcing replacement parts.
  • Experience exhibiting customer-focused behavior through effective communication with internal customers, peers and leadership team required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.
