Manufacturing Quality Assurance work includes: Defining and specifying activities, processes, and standards to fulfill the quality requirements for a manufactured material, component, or product. Building and maintaining the infrastructure and systems necessary to consistently ensure the timely delivery of quality products. Auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards. Reporting and troubleshooting manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods A Manager (M3) manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Responsibilities typically include: Policy and strategy implementation for short-term results (1 year or less). Problems faced are difficult to moderately complex. Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- To drive Supplier Quality activity in HUB South Asia.
- Support Procurement & Logistics function to drive localization of various products and components as per TLC guidelines.
- Lead team of Supplier Quality Engineers to drive various activities which are related to Quality.
- Prepare annual plan for the audit of Suppliers in HUB locations.
- Supplier Qualification- Drives the supplier qualification process and ensures supplier base is fully qualified and compliant. Schedules, monitors and approves supplier parts and service qualification activities. (eg. Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Supplier product qualification process, capacity analysis and verification in accordance with Hitachi guideline, Project timing and milestones.
- Supplier assessment- Plans and conducts, supplier assessment including reporting and findings for major and minor opportunities for improvements and verifies effective closure of assessment findings by the suppliers.
- Supplier development- Develops and support suppliers to achieve ongoing conformance with Hitachi requirements and continual improvements in quality.
- Supplier performance monitoring – Monitors and reports supplier performance quality issues, SNCRP, NCR and identify development action accordingly Hitachi quality metrics.
- System development and utilization- Define and develops local quality procedure for various material categories as per Group/Division/Business Unit instructions and procedures where appropriate.
- Lead / Support the Company Qualification and Product Qualification of Suppliers for Direct Material in close coordination with Category Managers
- Support SCM related tasks and Special Initiatives launched by the BU
- Co-ordinate with Suppliers on Quality Non Conformances and ensure that Immediate resolution and Root cause analysis is done as per Hitachi Processes and support the Supplier Claim Management process.
- Establish and maintain procedures and practices, based on global Procedures and support full supplier base management in Pro- Supply/ IT Tools.
- Periodic training of HUB / Local SCM teams on Supplier Qualification, Supplier Development, SPE, Global Procedures etc.
- Support initiatives / audits launched by Group function / Division on Sustainability, Material compliance, Integrity and Health, Safety and Environment.
- Constructive and supportive interface with other functions in Hitachi (Operations, SCM, Quality, R&D, Engineering etc.)
Requirements:
- Graduate Mechanical Engineer with strong technical background
- Ability to lead team of supplier quality engineers.
- Require a deep understanding of supplier development with quality background more than 15 year of experience in mechanical/electrical components and related products.
- Knowledge of handling casting, forging, welded & machining parts and experience / background on Metal Finishing (surface treatments)
- Six sigma black belt is an additional advantage.
- Knowledge of supplier product qualification process, and quality assurance is must.
- Spoken and written English, cross-cultural understanding skills are required.
- Excellent collaboration and work with cross functional team
- Conversant with SAP
- Willing to travel
