General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking Country Communications Manager for its Canada operations, based in Montreal, Canada. You will be responsible for managing Hitachi Energy’s internal and external communications activities such as newsletters, campaigns, events, content creation, etc. You will help build new communication processes and lead communications at all levels inside the organization, partnering with executives, businesses, and functions. You will measure what you do and gauge employee and customer engagement levels.

The successful candidate will be highly collaborative and transparent individual working across business lines.  Additionally, proven innovative approaches to pro-actively develop opportunities for publishing content and the ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment will be keys to success.  You should be able to write well and for different audiences. You should be able to tell a story in a compelling and consistent way.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute strategic internal and external communications plans for Hitachi Energy Canada employees

  • Create engaging written and visual messaging to motivate and inspire employees and external audiences

  • Write news articles, posts, blogs, and announcements for various communications channels

  • Support executive communications for selected business leaders

  • Provide communication support for various corporate, employee and external events

  • Oversee rollout and localization of global communications initiatives and change management plans within Canada.

  • Manage communications projects with high detail and accuracy from start to finish

  • Partner with North America and global corporate functions to assist with functional communications

  • Develop management communication plans for businesses

  • Manage communication and design agencies to produce deliverables on time and on budget

  • Manage a team of 2-3 junior communications professionals to deliver on Canada objectives

  • Design the strategy for communications and marketing support of internal and external company in Canada

Specific tasks:

  • Editorial service, including the writing and editing of articles, blogs, speeches, presentations, fact sheets in English and French

  • Ensure consistent content and messaging for thought leadership positioning

  • Social media savvy

  • Story telling

  • Consult and coach various teams on best practices of writing and story telling

  • Experience with event management is a must

Interdependencies:

  • Work closely with the North America Marketing and Communications team to develop a communications strategy and thought leadership plan for Hitachi Energy Canada

  • Define processes/planning/external monitor activities to reflect business priorities and long-term positioning, in line with the global strategy

  • Work in close collaboration with the global internal communications community

  • Work closely with 4 business units marketing and communications teams to align on country priorities

  • Manage creative agencies to define a strategy and report on the media outreach results

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience with 3 years relevant experience in internal and/or organizational communications, ideally with an interest in industrial sector, energy industry, technology and innovation

  • Experience with cross function communications with focus on internal editorial content (blogs, branding, web, social, etc.)

  • Understanding of the technology industry and employee needs  

  • Experience in working in a global, complex, organization is a plus

  • Proven understanding of digital communications channels and the power of social media

  • Proven exceptional writing/editing and oral communication skills (writing samples will be requested)

  • Proven track record in building strong internal communications programs

  • Proven experience to analyze and develop relevant metrics in dealing with different stakeholders

  • Excellent written and oral English and French language skills are required – other languages are a plus

  • International experience – cross cultural

  • Strong networking ability and multi-cultural credentials

  • Direct work experience with senior management

  • Video or multimedia experience
