Are you a Chemist or Materials Expert with a passion for ensuring the material compliance and driving sustainability initiatives and practices within the materials and product development processes?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Join our team within the High Voltage Products sector, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the compliance and sustainability of products such as High Voltage Switchgear, Power Quality Products, Insulation Components, and Control and Monitoring solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess regulations and standards relevant to our product portfolios sustainability and compliance.

  • Utilize your material and chemistry background and contribute to material compliance related customer discussions.

  • Lead projects and activities within Hitachi Energy addressing material compliance and sustainability of the product portfolio.

  • Drive continuous improvement processes including audit and oversight mechanisms related to materials selection, testing, sustainability, and compliance.

  • Create and maintain the appropriate internal guidelines, processes and policies for product qualification, testing, sustainability, and compliance.

  • Close collaboration with scientists and engineers from Hitachi Energy research, development centers and external laboratories and service providers around the world in material selection, specification, and qualification.

  • Interface with procurement and quality engineers to support supplier selection and qualification.
     

Your background

  • PhD, master’s degree or equivalent degree (university of applied science/university) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or closely related subject.

  • Knowledge of global regulations including REACH, RoHS, EU WFD, TSCA, Conflict Minerals.

  • Working knowledge in project management is an asset.

  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Fluency in English, basic German skills, or willingness to learn German.

  • Willingness to travel (5-10%).

We are open for a candidate located in other European locations.
