Description

MISSION:

In accordance with the Company Vision, Mission, Values and Management Disciplines, the OB Tester carries out testing of  on-board equipment forming part of the projects under the responsibility of the department.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:

Project Work

Perform project work including:

  • Performing software updates of on-board equipment;
  • Performing System End-to-End testing;
  • Performing Integration testing of subsystems
  • Performing test runs on trains
  • Performing Log Analysis following test runs

Testing and Commissioning

Carrying out testing and commissioning duties, including:

  • Participating in the testing and commissioning of railway on board systems;
  • Assisting in fault identification, set to work activities prior to testing and commissioning of trains into operation

Reporting

Provide progress reports as required by:

  • Attending project progress meetings as and when required;
  • Preparing progress reports for appropriate activities.

Occupational Health and Safety

Ensure all activities undertaken in the Company are conducted with due regard to a high level of safety including:

  • Ensuring all activities undertaken comply with applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) laws;
  • Ensuring all activities comply with Company and Client OH&S policies and procedures;
  • Ensuring all safety incidents are reported and followed up using Company OH&S procedures.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

Tertiary qualification, trade qualification or equivalent - preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Three (3)+ years’ experience in a similar role preferably within the rail industry
