Position Summary:

Under the direction of department management exercises responsibility for execution of the procurement departments strategic and tactical plans. This position exercises independent judgment routinely and operates within established guidelines.

Job Description:

Responsible for all aspects of the Supplier relationship with Hitachi including:

  • Managing BK PO process for orders $10K and above
  • Supporting BK plant side activities and projects
  • Developing Regional commodity strategies and Regional (MX/BR) Cost Reduction projects
  • Managing the supplier selection process for key commodities
  • Negotiating Regional contractual agreements
  • Supporting new program launches / equipment @ BK
  • Cost analysis, cost reduction strategies, market analysis, quoting activities,
  • Long –term planning and development of suppliers and commodity base

Qualifications: 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze/interpret large amounts of data (costs/supplier proposals)
  • Demonstrated strong/effective negotiation & decision-making skills
  • Ability to seek on-going cost reduction activities to establish, meet and exceed goals
  • Ability to lead groups and designate responsibilities as needed
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management within the organization
  • Ability to handle multiple projects to satisfactorily achieve dept./co. objectives
  • Strong Excel / PowerPoint skills
  • Possess high ethical standards of professional conduct and a basic understanding of contract law

Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong verbal and written communications skills.  Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools and other IT services are also required.

Education:  Bachelor of Business Administration or related field preferred or Associate Degree in Business Administration field and 5 years or more experience preferred

Experience: Have a minimum of 2 years of applicable experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:  N/A

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Have ability to work 40 – 60 hours per week.

Travel: Domestic and some international travel may be required.
