The Corporate R&D of Hitachi in Europe, via its “Autonomy and Circularity” Laboratory with bases in Sophia Antipolis (near Nice, France) and Munich (Germany), gives the opportunity to the postholder to be involved in the Circular Economy and Smart Manufacturing areas, and related activities in academia and standardization, as well as in a variety of different other sectors (e.g. IoT Solutions, Supply Chain optimization, Green Mobility), with projects of global significance, and to become part of a cutting-edge applied-research team. The postholder will conceive and develop innovative technologies/solutions incorporating data engineering or system engineering expertise.
Your accountability and responsibilities:
Ground-breaking research on “Product Circular Economy”, development of algorithm specifications, coding, and evaluation/validation of software functions will be carried out in collaboration with colleagues at global level.
Creation of research proposals, also based on customer and trends requirements, and of intellectual property footprint following established methods, procedures and company conventions to a high quality in line with agreed schedules and requirements.
Technical management of R&D Projects, delivery of Projects results, and identification / understanding of (new) customers’ challenges and requirements, following established methods, procedures and company conventions to a high quality in line with agreed schedules and requirements.
Support of Hitachi events and business activities with respect to the above-mentioned topics.
Presentation of activities and outcomes to R&D group colleagues, and possibly to stakeholders; as well as at conferences of high impact papers for journal publication.
Collaboration with universities / research institutes, and possibly with other companies, to maximize research outcomes and expand research activity.
Your profile:
Candidate should have MSs or equivalent degree, preferably at Circular Engineering or other Engineering fields such as mechanical engineering, or material engineering.
Candidate should have proven industrial experience related to circular economy or sustainable production or sustainable supply chain management.
Experience with programming Python.
Experience with the integration of SW and HW components in prototype environment (for example in test machineries).
Experience with databases handling and/or data-generating sensors.
Skills in technical writing and project management.
Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering or Systems Dynamics Modelling (e.g. Material flow modelling) would be considered a “plus”.
Experience in Business Analytics and Carbon accounting would be considered a “plus”.
Experience in business analysis on Circular Economy of capital equipment products would be considered as “plus”
Experience in statistics, artificial intelligence / machine learning, and / or computer vision would be considered a “plus”.
A good team player, ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, show strong skills of agility, creativity, flexibility and passion.
Passionate about societal challenges.
Willingness to travel within Europe, and eventually to Japan and/or to US.
Fluent in oral and written English.
