Work Location: Westford, MA

Travel Required: 25%

Expected Pay Range: $123,065 - $169,214

This pay range is for the position's base salary only. This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances. Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, organizing, and directing the Field Support activities (technical support and revenue generation) in concert with corporate and department goals and objectives.  {E}
  • Developing, implementing, and leading the Service Business unit go-to-market business strategy. {E}
  • Preparing Service Business Unit budget and forecasts; maintaining P&L targets and achievement. {E}
  • Scheduling assignments, projects, and training activities for Field Support personnel.   {E}
  • Acting as a liaison between Hitachi factories and the Service Business Unit in the transfer of knowledge and information.  {E}
  • Coordinating activities with R&D, product management groups, and sales to address market requirements, resolve technical product issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.  {E}
  • Coordinating and documenting factory product training and certification of Field Support staff.  {E}
  • Travelling domestically and internationally to assigned customer sites and other locations to assist in resolution of technical issues.  {E}

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. degree in a related Business or Science & Engineering field.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the Analytical Instrumentation field. {E}
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in a related field service business management.  {E}
  • Experience managing a support team within a larger organization.  {E}
  • Experience analyzing and resolving complex instrument issues.  {E}
  • Experience in related instrument sales or product management. {NE}
  • Technical knowledge and experience in X-ray Fluorescence, Thermal Analysis, Optical Spectroscopy, and/or Chromatography products and applications. {NE}

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated technical competence and business acumen.  
  • Good planning and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers, service department personnel, other departments, and third parties.  
  • Ability to exercise sound and prudent judgment.
