Hitachi Energy is seeking a Principal Project Lead Engineer for Grid Integration Business Unit. The Grid Integration business is experiencing tremendous growth in EV charging systems, high voltage direct current projects, power consulting, power quality solutions, semiconductors, and many other exciting offerings.

The Project Lead Engineer will join our Grid & Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) team.  GPQS is working with Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), Substation solutions, Off-Shore and On-Shore Renewable solutions.  The Project Lead Engineer plays an integral role in managing the full engineering scope throughout the lifecycle of these projects.     

Responsibilities:

• Overall technical lead on all engineering activities, both in-house and outsourced, during the proposal, design, and construction of Grid and Power Quality Solutions projects.
• Support proposal efforts by introducing and promoting innovation, cost saving ideas, and value-added solutions to the overall system design concept.
• Completes risk and opportunity assessments and ensures implementation of resulting actions.
• Act as primary technical interface with all project stakeholders, including customers, suppliers and local Hitachi Energy Units.
• Ensure that all activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed according to contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
• Coordinate and lead the project engineering team to conduct necessary design reviews and successfully execute projects with adherence to the project schedule, cost and contract.
• Evaluation of sub-suppliers and selection as per project requirement

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master of Science Electrical Engineering; 12+ years of direct industry experience
• In-depth knowledge of National Electric Code and ANSI/IEEE requirements
• Experience working in Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects
• Travel required ~20% both domestic and international
• Team contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.
• Works in teams and independently, applying established local & global standards
• Good communication skills
• High level of ownership & accountability
