Local HR Business Partner - Grid Integration (GI) UK and Ireland

Hitachi Energy is seeking a HR Business Partner to support the Grid Integration business for UK and IE where you will be part of the European and Global HR Business Partner teams, and the management teams. With unprecedented growth ahead, this is a fantastic time to join!

You will support five unique business lines or “product groups”, within the Grid Integration business unit, spanning Power Consulting, HVDC Projects and Service, and Grid and Power Quality Solutions Projects and Service businesses across the United Kingdom and Ireland.  This role also requires support to overseas management teams who are growing their teams within the UK and Ireland.

We are looking for an HR professional who places value on collaboration, knowledge sharing, appreciates transparency and can maximize opportunities for growth and improvement. Our business is going through significant changes as part of our ongoing transformation as Hitachi Energy and this opportunity would suit someone who thrives on change management, process and system improvement.

This position will be home based, with the requirement to spend part of the working week at our office in Stone, Staffordshire, and in the future our new Birmingham Head office upon its opening in early 2024. You will also have the opportunity to travel to our project offices and sites across both the UK and Ireland as required. This position would also be suitable for someone based in Ireland, with proximity to our Head office in Liffey Valley, Dublin.

Your responsibilities

  • Drive implementation of all Hitachi Energy Global HR processes at the local level.
  • Support the relevant management teams to develop and implement their workforce plans for the Business Unit at the country level.
  • Support the businesses at a time of high volume project recruitment, helping define local project recruitment planning and supporting international assignees.
  • Work closely with managers being attentive and developing solutions with a focus on culture, diversity,  equity and inclusion,  people and organization
  • Ensure compliance to local labour regulations, whilst maintaining key stakeholder relationships
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of business needs to enable first –class support and suggestions when applying HR policies and processes.
  • Proactively support and coach management on HR topics (e.g., performance management, employee relations, talent management, learning and development, hiring and recruitment) working collaboratively with other HR Business Partners, HR Operations and the HR CoE functions.

Your requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships across all levels
  • Ability to thrive in a complex and matrixed organisation.
  • Capability to prioritise work tasks and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to act with assertiveness whilst also building trust with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of local UK and IE Labour market, legislations and policies, ideally with previous HR or relevant people leadership experience.
  • Sound commercial and understanding of business drivers, and how best to utilize your HR expertise as a key business partner to the management teams.
  • Fluency in English is a must, both written and spoken, as well as the Right to Work in the UK or Ireland (depending on preferred location).
  • Negotiation skills with good capability to achieve understanding to influence others,
  • You are flexible, persistent and have the ability to work independently as well as collaborate well with others in a high-paced environment
