Hierarchical Reporting Line: Regional Business (HUB) Manager

Functional Reporting Line: Global Business Unit Head of Supply Chain Management

Mission Statement:

Organize and lead the HUB Supply Chain Management (SCM) team managing sourcing activities to supply material at adequate availability and best value for the business. Deliver on the financial and operational targets. Collaborate with factory and Global Business Unit (BU) / Product Group (GPG) / Regional Business Unit (HUB) stakeholders to ensure quality, timely delivery and to support the strategy deployment, project implementation as well as BU/GPG/HUB undertakings. Oversee transportation operations with ownership of heavy lift transportation sourcing and execution. Take the ultimate accountability and approval authority, and reviews and assures the quality of the team’s operation in accordance with Hitachi Energy, BU, and HUB regulations and procedures.

Main Activities:

Organization:

  • Set up an organization in line with SCM regulations, blueprints and process framework.  

  • Establish HUB and factory budgets, KPI targets and adjust resources accordingly. 

  • Ensure adequate budgets and staffing in HUB and Common Shared Service (CSS).  

Sourcing Strategy: 

  • Plan and implement the sourcing strategy in the factory in line with the BU strategy. 

  • Align with BU/GPG/HUB management on strategic initiatives and execute accordingly. 

  • Set the conditions for HUB category and Factory SCM teams to implement the strategy and to deliver on their targets. 

Processes: 

  • Ensure defined SCM processes are implemented and followed throughout the value chain. 

  • Define material assumptions during sales bid and approve costing in “must win” opportunities. 

  • Accountable for prices and terms & conditions definition and control throughout the value chain (from sales bid, to ERP master data and oversees invoices control rules (tolerances, etc.). Monitor accuracy and drive corrective actions.  

  • Optimize usage of CSS and collaborate for continuous improvements. 

  • Report on KPIs for business and processes performance. Propose and drive corrective/improvement actions where necessary. Enforce compliance to company rules. Support the team on escalation when necessary.  

Improvement Measures:  

  • Promote and sponsor improvements using benchmark, Design to Value (DtV), cost breakdown, “should costing” and problem-solving techniques. 

Supplier Management:

  • Accountable for supplier performance for the spend under direct responsibility. 

  • Third level escalation of recurring/critical non-conformity and claims resolution. 

Additional Responsibilities: 

HUB Supplier Quality Activities: 

  • Oversee the HUB Supplier Quality and Development activities as described in compliance with factory, category management requirements following Supplier Management process workstream. 

People Leadership and Development

  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed (with HR support).

  • Guide, motivate, and develop direct and indirect subordinates following HR policies, and coordinate talent management and succession planning within assigned area.

Transportation Management

  • Oversee the heavy lift sourcing activities and coordinate on shipment execution. 

  • Support improvements in general cargo.
