One of San Diego's top Digital Marketing Agencies, is growing our innovative technology team! In 2020 Power Digital launched nova, our proprietary platform for digital marketing auditing, forecasting, planning, and reporting. The nova platform integrates data from hundreds of clients and dozens of data sources. Using this data, it can analyze and make predictions for over 50 marketing strategies in 13 marketing channels to provide insights and tools for our customers.

The Sr. Data Engineer will provide both technical and team leadership through coaching and mentorship. They will design, build and maintain data structures and pipelines that are leveraged across nova applications to drive meaningful engagement that impacts the business and our clients. They are a subject-matter expert in all things data and will help establish best practices for nova to deliver high-quality data solutions.

As a part of our technology team, this role will contribute to our nova software by performing requirements engineering, conducting code reviews, and deploying new releases. This includes participating in agile development processes like sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives, sprint boards, backlogs, and ticket management. This engineer will work with team members to continue to grow the department capabilities and support our clients.

Requirements:

KPI's

Data quality metrics (e.g. completeness, accuracy, freshness)

Qualifications
BS or Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
6-8 years of large scale data engineering
6-8 years object-oriented programming experience with more than one major language including Java, .NET, PHP, Python, Go, and Node
Experience defining, communicating, and training engineering best practices and coding standards
Positive and enthusiastic team player with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative orientation.
Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and works with others at all levels

Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership
Lead technical discussions defining and documenting coding standards and best practices.
Collaborate with other engineers on developing architectural and data flow diagrams for initiatives across multiple product roadmaps.
Ensure implementation of best practices by conducting code reviews, evaluating pull requests, and building out a documentation repository.
Provide technical leadership to engineers through coaching and mentorship.
Coordinate and lead training opportunities that will further accelerate the growth of the team in areas of need.

Engineering
Own and optimize Nova Cloud's entire data lifecycle, from data inbound processes to management and storage, through to outbound distribution and activation.
Analyze requirements and use cases, decomposing them into specific technical, functional, and implementation tasks.
Investigate and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
Build and execute unit and integration tests to improve reliability and stability of data pipelines.
Define and manage data governance and data quality processes to ensure that the company's data is accurate, complete, and secure.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in data engineering and be able to apply them to the company's data infrastructure.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily scrums, and sprint retrospectives.
