Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Project Operations Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Hagerstown, MD.

As Project Operations Engineer, the occupant duties and responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the coordination of the industrialization, logistic (supply chain) and production activities acting as an interface between the factory departments and the other departments involved, with the goal of respecting the milestone of the project, in coherence with quality, time and cost objectives.
  • Ensure the definition of the manufacturing processes and cycle times to put in place for the production of the vehicles.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with Integrated Planning function, the development and the regular update of the weekly schedule of the plant manufacturing activities in alignment with the overall schedule of the project.
  • Ensure the readiness of the vehicle/component for its delivery to the customer, in particular responsible for the vehicle/component configuration (changes, missing part, Non conformities) and for related update
  • Support the definition of the most competitive solutions (technical solution, make or buy decision,…) providing all relevant elements related to manufacturing with the settling of the required manufacturing milestones to be included in the Integrated Plan.
  • Main interface of the Manufacturing Site with the Project Team (Project Manager and all other Functions).
  • Support the Site Manager and Production Managers in the tracking and controls of the direct hours spent for the manufacturing of the vehicles and on any extra hours for NCR of other activities not included in the cycle time.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years or more in manufacturing environment, fabrication or assembly in the railway sector or similar.
  • Experience with mechanical shop process.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing method, tools and process.
  • Assembly manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with English language proficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and interface with all internal and external stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering Preferred.
