Description

In this position you will be responsible for driving the detailed definition, structuring of the HVDC sustainability strategy, coordinating the cross-functional effort to implement it in alignment business strategies and needs.

Furthermore, you are also responsible for building the sustainability function and a network of sustainability experts in the relevant functions, working closely with the business to fulfill and anticipate customer requirements.    

You are the coordinator and point of reference for sustainability topics in HVDC, actively supporting the business, provide subject matter expertise and guidance to achieve the commonly agreed sustainability and business objectives.


This position is preferably based in Ludvika, Sweden, but if necessary, we might be open to other locations for this position as well.

Your responsibilities

  • Build collaborative partnerships with multiple internal stakeholders to define, develop and implement a sustainability strategy for HVDC
  • Coordinate and monitor the effort of developing and implementing the HVDC sustainability strategy and roadmap through engagement with a network of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support setting of organizational sustainability targets in agreement with functions involved and the business, overseeing the delivery of strategic initiatives to achieve the targets.
  • Understand business needs regarding sustainability and support the business in any sustainability related needs (including tenders, qualifications, internal improvement projects) directly, or involving the subject responsible/subject matter expert in the organization.
  • Analyze and monitor sustainability and environmental performance to report to leadership team and drive implementation in the organization, identify progress against targets and opportunities for improvement and further action. Work collaboratively with all areas of the business to optimize its impact in the sustainability area.
  • Promote and raise awareness, as well as develop capabilities and competencies at all levels of the organization, to address the impact of emerging sustainability and environmental issues and opportunities, fostering a culture of continual development.
  • Engage with business to harmonize processes/guidelines and practices to ensure common approach across GPG and sound scientific basis to sustainability and environmental actions.

Your background

  • Strong passion for sustainability and in making sustainability happen in business as well as having the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment, flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Proactive attitude, strong organizational, project and stakeholder management skills, and being fluent in English both verbal and written.
  • Ability to structure simplify and communicate complex sustainability topics in simple terms, with emphasis on impact.
  • Ability to think strategically, understand the big picture and adjust available solution to diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of Sustainability, understanding of key sustainability issues and how they can be integrated into business to create measurable value.
  • Preferable: Senior level experience in transformation or strategy implementation sustainability related role.
  • Preferable: expert knowledge in environmental management and carbon accounting, product and material compliance, ecodesign or circularity.
