Scientist – Electrical engineer/Applied Physicist – Baden/Switzerland

The design of high voltage devices, such as gas circuit breakers, requires – among others – simulations and experiments for verification of insulation and switching performance. Additionally, the research activities in the area of gas circuit breakers are enhanced by various computer-aided-engineering tools.

We are looking for a research scientist with the knowledge in gas circuit breakers or in high-voltage technology, to strengthen our team at our research center in Baden/CH.

Your Responsibilities

  • Applied research in the area of electrical power devices, especially gas circuit breakers and high-voltage engineering
  • Development and investigation of new concepts for HV AC and DC gas circuit breakers and gaseous insulation
  • Design, planning and execution of laboratory experiments
  • Collaborate with Hitachi Energy business units and research centers, universities, and external partners
  • Build your network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise
  • Disseminate your results in technical reports, patent applications, and scientific publications

Your Requirements

  • PhD in electrical engineering or applied physics
  • Experience in laboratory work and know-how in experimental techniques, ideally for gas circuit breakers or high-voltage technology
  • Proven track record at top scientific conferences and journals
  • Excellent communication skills, team player attitude, and creativity
  • Project and people management track record is an advantage
  • Background related to cold/thermal plasma physics and applications is an advantage
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
