Hitachi Energy is growing and seeking an entry level Field Service & Commissioning Engineer to work in our Hitachi Energy Power Grids Grid Integration Service North America team. 

This position is a fantastic opportunity to enter the power quality industry.  The candidate will receive training, support, and work within our experienced field service team, developing experience and expertise on Hitachi energy products. 

This position has excellent growth opportunities within our service and project business.  The candidate will quickly be learning and performing a variety of testing and commissioning activities/items:  substation installation, testing, energizing, maintenance, troubleshooting, control & protection relays, breakers, transformers, switches, NERC / CIP cyber security requirements, SCADA systems, cooling systems, battery systems, subcontractor management, reading engineering diagrams/drawings, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with electro-mechanical installation, commissioning, and service of substations and FACTS/HVDC stations.

  • Support documentation and reporting requirements & learn document control systems.

  • Complete internal product & systems training: classroom, digital, and on the job training.

  • Complete safety training and assist with driving safe work practices on site.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, associates, or technical degree in Electrical, Automation, or Control Systems Engineering

  • Ability to read electrical diagrams is preferred.

  • CA Citizenship or Authorization to work in the CA.

  • Bilingual (French).

  • Must be comfortable to work in a field, construction, and industrial environment.

  • Must be able to frequently stand, climb ladders, stairs, and occasionally lift heavy objects.

  • Must be able to travel routinely as needed, potentially 70%
