Description

The Training Specialist - Operations is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization’s employees. This position assesses the company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.  This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance. 

The Training Specialist will identify and monitor training needs in the operations area, and design, plan and implement training programs, policies and procedures to fulfill those needs.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develops training and developmental programs and objectives.
  • Creates, organizes, plans and presents various forms of onboarding and skills training for employees.
  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, WCI’s, guides and course materials.
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors, team leads and other involved in employee development efforts.
  • Presents training courses using various forms and formats including hands-on, group discussion, lecture, simulations and videos.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Identifies problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve.
  • Maintains knowledge of new methods and techniques for training, and training requirements applicable to the organization and/or industry.
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training and evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys and feedback.
  • Modifies programs and trainings as needed
  • Prepares and maintains training status reports, exhibits, communications and training procedures as required.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management, supervision and the HR staff.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Four-year degree in Training and Development, Communications, Business or related field from an accredited institution.

Professional experience:

  • Five years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs or in a related field
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred

  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software
