General Responsibilities:

Under general direction of customer and department manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to manage and coordinate multiple phases of ECU Basic software development and processes used in automotive transmission and gasoline engine ECU design and application.

Job Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Individual will be responsible for coordinating all product development activity between OEM customer and responsible departments within the company.
  • Individual will need to comprehend and transfer customer requirements to responsible activities within the company.
  • Facilitate and manage program timing in the roll of program manager.
  • Directly communicate and interface with OEM customers for issues regarding the products, including customers’ related concerns.
  • Review and interface with OEM customer for warranty data and initiate and coordinate actions internally to improve quality.
  • Manage prototype sample coordination, Support sales staff for pricing submission to customers.
  • Manage to efficiently work with the third party solution provider and understand their scope in the project deliverables.
  • Plan, manage and track the suppliers for technology solutions and resources for both onsite and offshore.
  • Closely track the project milestones for the software deliverables, work on the customer change request for cost and timing and being facilitator across hardware, mechanical and instrumentation teams for software and prototype builds.
  • Manage technical and commercial change logs, manage internal project approval and cost details
  • Direct support teams and follow up on project related deliverables.
  • Knowledge of TS16949 requirements to support job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge on static code analysis, industry standards software development process such as AUTOSPICE, CMMI.
  • Strong exposure to work and manage with AUTOSAR compliance software packages, Function safety standards for ECU software (ISO26262).

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be proficient in software programming languages such as assembly, C or other high level languages.
  • Be familiar with automotive component and vehicle test procedures, including environmental and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Be generally knowledgeable in the automotive development process.
  • Have minimum of 5 - 7 years applicable experience in automotive environment.
  • Have experience with electronic control systems.
  • Have experience with design specifications and detailed software documentation.
  • Have experience with software validation test procedures.
  • Have experience with Freescale, Renesas, and Infineon Aurix microprocessors.
  • Have working knowledge of debuggers and emulation tools, CAN interface tools and other serial communication interfaces.
  • Have experience tracking and reporting design changes.
  • Have experience coordinating and facilitating several small projects or one major project.
  • Experience with ETAS calibration tools and realtime OS such as RTA-OS (Microsar or ETAS) kernels are a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with customers.
  • Must be able to travel for to Europe, US and Japan.
  • Have experience tracking and reporting design changes.
  • Have experience coordinating and facilitating several small projects or one major project.
  • Experience interfacing with customers is a plus.

Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong/effective verbal and written communication skills.  High level of computer proficiency is necessary for material preparation and presentation.

Education:  Bachelor or Master’s degree in in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Experience:  5 - 7 years applicable experience in automotive

Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  leading and mentoring the efforts of engineers who are responsible for sub-project activities. 

Working conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed. The candidate will occasionally need to travel to multiple global locations to support project development.
