Technical Writing & Editing: Systems & Software Documentation Senior Professional

Mission Statement:

Hitachi Energy is looking for Sr. Technical Writer who will be responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The position will research products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience. As a Sr. Technical Writer for Enterprise Software R&D Unit you will be a part of the respective local department, but also report to the R&D Team Manager.

Your Responsibilities: 

• Create and update product documentation and descriptions without oversight .

• Cooperate with Product Managers, UX Designers, Developers, and other Technical Writers .

• Speak with development teams to clarify feature details and specifications.

• Take the lead of documentation projects .

• Share your knowledge with other team members .

• Test beta features and learn how our software works to become a subject matter expert.

Your Background:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in technical writing, English, communications, or a related area of study.  

• At least 5+ years in a similar role with some experience of writing for technical audiences.

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills to prepare easy-to-read text in plain English.

• Practical knowledge of using international style guides for writing in English (Microsoft Manual of Style or the AP Stylebook) or STE.  

• Experience working with a docs-as-code workflow and ability to prepare simple code samples.

• Experience with technical writing tools (MadCap Flare), content management systems, source control systems (Git), Jira, and Confluence . 

• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
