Hitachi Rail Honolulu JV (HRH) is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Communication and SCADA Technician to work on our Honolulu Rail Project.  As the successful candidate your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome.  The position is based in Pearl City/Honolulu, HI.

Accountabilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on the Communication and SCADA equipment
  • Ensures compliance with all maintenance procedures and instructions including;  safety, quality, environmental procedures
  • Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities to meet the availability for service requirements
  • Implements and follows-up on procedures and rules for service, repair and maintenance of the equipment
  •        To oversee the operations and correct functioning of the Communications systems and central equipment to meet the performance requirements in the contract.

             Periodically downloads communication, video and voice log files.

             Analyzes log files to troubleshoot any problem or to provide predictive maintenance for the communication system.

             Perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of system and subsystem to support field technicians in the diagnosis and correction of faults.

             Completes assigned operational, equipment failure, safety and other reports as required.

    Performs routine, preventive and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning and proper maintenance on assigned central Communication equipment in accordance with, schematics, operations manuals and manufacturers maintenance instructions
  • Ensuring that sufficient materials, hand tools and equipment are on hand for maintenance activities
  • Early identification of failure trends that may impact fleet availability
  • Liaison and supervision of supplier’s staff who perform works
  • Responsible for conducting inspections and acceptance of equipment
  • Entering information into the MMIS system
  • Perform related duties as requested by the Manager
  • Role requires flexibility and efficiently which require shift rotation, weekends and holidays work typical of major infrastructure projects and operating transit systems
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned
     

Education/Skills:

  • A holder of an Associate  or Bachelor Degree in Communications or Electronics Engineering

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

  • 3 years’ experience in the preventive maintenance technical systems
  • Expert knowledge in communications system

Bargaining Unit: IBEW Local 1186

Starting pay: $28.97

Note: In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions
