Description

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 1500 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Mission Statement:

The Procurement Specialist at Hitachi Energy plays a crucial role in procuring goods and services essential for our operations. They will collaborate closely with suppliers, negotiate commercial specific terms and conditions, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products, all while adhering to Hitachi Energy's standards of excellence. The role is responsible for Middle East-Gulf Region project execution procurement in direct support of the Senior Procurement Specialist.

Main Accountabilities

Dimensions

1. Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and assess the quality and suitability of their products and services.

2. Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements that align with Hitachi Energy's objectives.

3. Maintain precise records of purchases and pricing, utilizing Hitachi Energy's procurement systems and processes.

4. Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, production, and project management, to ascertain procurement needs and timelines.

5. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and Hitachi Energy's quality standards.

6. Track and report key performance metrics to optimize procurement processes, reduce expenses, and enhance operational efficiency.

7. Develop and execute procurement strategies that balance cost-effectiveness with high-quality standards, in alignment with Hitachi Energy's business goals.

8. Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations and establish and nurture long-term relationships with key suppliers.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

Proven track record of successful 5 years of procurement experience, preferably within the energy or engineering sector.

3. Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships.

4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with SAP and other procurement tools.

5. In-depth knowledge of SC principles and procurement best practices.

6. Analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

7. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

8. Collaborative mindset and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
