Description

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Electrical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead and contribute to cutting-edge  R&D projects  for our Surge Arrester portfolio and accessories, and contribute to our future reliable and sustainable power grid.

Your technical expertise will be crucial in elaborating innovative product solutions, ensuring they adhere to industry standards, design rules, and internal processes. You will also play a pivotal role in maintaining the quality of suppliers and parts, collaborating closely with various departments within Hitachi Energy, including R&D Centers, Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Operations, and Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to research and product development projects

  • Take technical responsibility for products within our Surge Arrester portfolio

  • Develop innovative product solutions following standards, design rules, and internal processes

  • Ensure the quality of suppliers and parts used in our products

  • Collaborate effectively with Hitachi Energy functions, including R&D Centers, Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Operations, and Sales

  • Write tutorials, guidelines, test procedures, and reports to document findings and progress

Requirements

  • Minimum master’s degree in electrical engineering or physics

  • Expertise in high voltage engineering and simulation tools, particularly COMSOL

  • Knowledge of electrical testing principles

  • Experience in medium or high voltage surge arrester is desirable but not mandatory

  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Openness to new challenges and a keen interest in learning and professional development

  • Fluency in English; basic German skills are preferred, or a willingness to learn German
