Mission Statement:

The Application Postgres Database Administrator supports database administrative activities including but not limited to database patching, capacity, and performance management. This position also is responsible for backup and recovery configuration and execution, modeling, and development support.

Your Responsibilities:

• Proven experience troubleshooting and solving complex databases schemas/warehouses.

• Understanding and experience of Software Development Life Cycle.

• Experience in database development, administration, and management for PostgreSQL (required), SQL Server and Oracle.

• Understanding of existing data models and ability to design new data models.

• Administration and tuning of database, and data models for performance.

• Ability to assess database for best practices and performance.

• Ability to build security and backup strategies for database.

• Ensuring database is performing at optimal levels.

• Collaborating with engineering teams and clients on ensuring smooth operations of database.

• Performs deployments in production and non-production environments.

• Responsible for evaluating patching requests, communicating constraints, risks, impact, issues and timelines for deployment.

• Streamlines cloning or similar activities to build/refresh non-production environments.

• Supports and enforces change management SOP, including maintenance across multiple environments.

• Supports IT security Audit Reporting.

• Provides technical leadership and advice for the company's use of DB and related technologies.

• Provide leadership and guidance on large, complex, and cross functional projects and tasks.

• Provides database back-up, archiving, monitoring, data analysis and troubleshoots data issues.

• Assists with related task planning, training and technical direction of other Applications Administrators, DBAs or IT software engineers and developers.

• Develops documentation for the assessment and automation of repeatable processes.

• Assists in maintaining plans for disaster recovery and failover capabilities and testing.

• Maintains security according to company guidelines and works closely with the IT Security team to develop additional robust solutions.

• Provides peer reviews for work produced by other Application DBA's and/or software developers.

• Trains other Application DBAs within the ESS Operational organization and acts as a mentor to less experienced staff.

Your Background:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) along with 5-8+ years' related experience.

• Understanding and ability to work with infrastructure as code, Terraform and CI/CD Pipelines.

• 4+ years of experience with database administration on PostgreSQL database.

• 2+ years of working experience on Azure, AWS, or Google cloud database technologies.

• EAM (Enterprise Asset Management or Network Control related industry experience a plus.

• IT Skills.

• PostgreSQL Database administration.

• Experience in administering cloud-based multiuser environment with expertise in planning, designing, building, and implementing complex database systems (Azure cloud-based Postgres database administration experience or similar database administration experience).

• Experienced with optimizing database performance through testing and ongoing real-time monitoring.

• Experience working with version control systems like GIT and used Source code management tools GitHub and Bitbucket.

• Create, tune, administer, and maintain Postgres DB instances for high volume, mission critical systems throughout the development, test, and production lifecycle.

• Design and develop logical and physical database designs from customer application requirements.

• Support daily administration, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting in PostgreSQL clusters on Linux.

• Use Flyway to apply schema updates and track the deployment process through environments.

• Hands on Data modeling/modeler.

• Hands-on experience with Linux based databases preferred.

• Hands-on experience with NOSQL databases like Cosmos DB, Redis preferred.

• Ability to work independently, work as a member of and provide technical direction to a cohesive team with excellent interpersonal skills.

• Strong analytical and communication skills.

• Leading meetings and acting as a facilitator along with the ability to logically present and communicate ideas to work groups.

• Ability to develop and execute focused infrastructure projects such as upgrades and migrations.

• A solid understanding of enterprise technology stacks.

• Ability to architect technology solutions and influence enterprise adoption through stakeholder management.

• Good verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

• Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
