General Information:
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Specialist is responsible for carrying out HSE activities to eliminate or reduce occupational health, safety and environmental risks, and to ensure the normal operation of the company following applicable occupational health, safety and environmental laws and regulations.
The candidate must act as an agent of change to develop the HSE culture.
This role is primarily field-based (70%) with an administrative portion (30%).
Responsibilities:
Act as a coach and advisor to the supervisory team and employees on shift.
Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal HSE regulations.
Assist in maintaining and executing the HSE Management System and conduct inspections and audits, analyze results and manage corrective actions.
Ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Oversee the incident reporting, investigation, and analysis program for your shift.
Analyze and monitor trends in incidents, inspections, audits and corrective actions and inform the HSE Manager.
Contribute to the development and implementation of various programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockouts, planned inspections and audits, etc.)
Organize activities to promote HSE culture to employees and supervisors, increase their participation and encourage the adoption of safe behaviors.
Support HSSE training and onboarding by improving content and delivery as required.
Participate in strategic HSE planning to help the organization achieve all KPIs, targets and objectives.
Manage first aid programs and emergency response measures.

Qualifications:
Occupational health and safety diploma/certificate or other related training.
Five years' relevant field experience in HSE, preferably in a unionized environment.
Self-reliance, initiative and proactivity.
Available to work other shifts (occasional)
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Team player
Bilingual (French, English).
Experience and/or familiarity with ISO45001 and ISO 14001 (an asset)
