Hitachi Energy is looking for EHS Specialist for 3rd AND 2nd Shift to join our production team, located in Jefferson City, MO.

2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 11:30pm

3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday 11:00pm - 7:00am

As an EHS Specialist you will assist a dedicated team of EHS professionals with promoting a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace.  Work directly with operations and other personnel to reduce risk, support improvement actions, achieve factory objectives, and ensure activities are compliant with corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Assist supervisors and managers in assigned areas/shifts with achieving exceptional HSE performance.
  • Assist with the organization’s compliance with all applicable corporate, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Help maintain and execute the HSE management systems.
  • Conduct HSE related audits and inspections.
  • Assist with investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Follow-up on improvement actions to ensure completion and effectiveness.
  • Report to your assigned areas regarding incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective measures.
  • Participate in daily meetings.
  • Complete daily handover to peers at shift change.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement of HSE programs, procedures, and training materials.
  • Organize activities to promote employee and supervisor awareness, increase their participation and encourage the adoption of safe behaviors.
  • Responsible for assisting in HSE strategic planning to help move the organization towards
  • Living core values of safety and integrity. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two years of full-time HSE related experience OR Five years of experience in heavy manufacturing with demonstrated HSE participation.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Willing to attend professional development training internally and externally.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to work with digital solutions.
  • Team player and approachable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Preferred:

  • Two- or four-year degree in an HSE or engineering related field.
  • Any HSE related certification (i.e. CHHM, ASP, CIH etc.).
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs and culture change initiatives.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with ISO45001 & ISO 14001.
  • High comfort level with digitized management tools.
  • Experience with represented workforce.
  • Bilingual: English / Spanish.
