General Information:

The Operations Support Specialist (OSS) position reports to the Production Supervisor of one of the four main production departments of the transformer plant located in Varennes, Quebec. You will be responsible for the follow-up and achievement of the production plan for your department. To do so, good communication will be required with the plant employees (unionized), the quality team, the purchasing team, the central planning team as well as engineering.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Validate the production plans (25% of the time)

  • Validates with the central planning team the production plans of the different units.

  • Participate in capacity reviews during monthly S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) meetings.

  • Confirm the feasibility of the plan and propose continuous improvements (material and human limitations, etc.).

  • Validate the planned production times and manage the leveling of the load and bottlenecks.

  • Prepare for the launch of production in the factory (25% of the time)

  • Follow up with the purchasing team on missing parts and ensures an appropriate supply plan.

  • Ensure that inventories of the required parts are up to date in SAP and physically (ex: Kanban).

  • Follow-up of operations (50% of the time)

  • Monitor the progress of production and set priorities to meet deadlines in conjunction with the Production Supervisor and group leaders.

  • Participate in daily operations reviews.

  • Understand the root causes of deviations from the plan, implement corrective actions in case of deviation, and report unresolved deviations to the central planning team.

  • Create and maintain performance indicators on plan execution and departmental performance.

  • Ensure that production hours are properly allocated.

  • Support the Production Supervisor (right hand) and replace him/her if needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in operations management and logistics, or another related field with a minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment, in a production control role, or related field (purchasing, planning, logistics, etc.)

  • Key asset: Experience in SAP and more specifically with the material and planning modules (MM, PS and PP), including all relevant planning parameters such as inventory controls, replenishment, warehouse management and procurement functionality in ERP

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project

  • Self-motivation with a positive attitude, self-starter, forward-looking and professional with a collaborative attitude

  • Reliability with a strong sense of urgency and result driven

  • Ability to solve problems quickly

  • Verbal and written communication skills mainly in French, but also sometimes in English

  • 100 % in-plant and in-person work
