General information:

The High Voltage Service Group seeks a Project Manager to support its growth plan.  The Project Manager creates and executes project work plans and revises them as appropriate to meet the financial, commercial, and technical requirements.  The Project Manager will be accountable for delivering HV field service projects successfully and achieving the highest quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the project is planned and performed within the cost and time limits, and in agreement with the contractual requirements.

  • Develops project execution plans, quality plans as well and project-specific procedures and leads individual disciplines to achieve milestones in each area.

  • Responsible for the development of the WBS and schedule, including engineering, purchasing/procurement, delivery, construction, commissioning, and customer training activities.

  • Identifies program risks and leads efforts to develop and implement risk mitigation plans

  • Responsible for all contract aspects, including review of the general commercial conditions, specific conditions, warranty, as well as quality, packing & shipping, and documentation requirements for contracts with subcontractors.

  • Lead contract and project reviews with customers and management.

  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope from project hand-off through to final delivery and acceptance.

  • Ensures project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Drives process discipline and ensures all groups (documentation, engineering, marketing, etc) follow the process.

  • Analyzes project profitability, revenue, margin, labour, and material cost, and is accountable for achieving project financial performance targets

  • Validates the project budget estimate, tracks project actuals, analyzes variances, and takes necessary action to mitigate financial risk and cost overruns.

  • Responsible for preparing all Change Order proposals, leading customer Change Order negotiations, and implementing the Change Order after customer agreement is secured.

  • Sets and manages client expectations, develop relationships, and communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.

  • Schedules and conducts coordination, design review, and project progress review meetings, both internally and with the customer, and ensures that minutes of meetings are duly completed.

  • Ensures good communication with the management, including updates of the periodic reports, and participates in monthly Project Review meetings.

  • Effectively implements and leverages the use of PM tools and processes (MS project, SAP, etc)

  • Ensure customer satisfaction

  • Work closely with the Service Manager and Field Service Engineers



Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred option; electrical/mechanical) with extensive knowledge of HV field service work and testing power equipment.

  • Candidates with significant experience in management, electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent will be considered.

  • 10+ years of related experience

  • PMP certification (Project Management Professional); an asset

  • Strong business acumen

  • Contractor management experience. Knowledge of the contractual, legal, and commercial aspects

  • Experience in working in a unionized construction environment
