Description

Your responsibilities:

  • Install and configure new Microsoft SQL Server instances, including Always On availability groups and failover clustering. 

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems. 

  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance, to ensure high performance, availability, and security. 

  • Highly skilled at database design and installation. Responsible for database backup and recovery procedures, access security and database integrity, physical data storage design and data storage management. 

  • Review database performance by using DMVs and monitoring tools like profiler, extended events, query store and other third-party tools. 

  • Experienced in Database Performance, Maintenance and Development to perform the following:  

  • Design and create filtered indexes, indexed views and statistics and filtered statistics to optimize queries. 

  • Configure the server settings and database settings and alter them if necessary to optimize the performance. 

  • Create in-memory tables if necessary. 

  • Design the usage of query hints, plan guides, transactions, and locks. 

  • Identify and solve transaction related and deadlock issues. 

  • Design the security strategy. 

  • Design the table partitioning functions and schemes. 

  • Plan the filegroups and files of the databases. 

  • Design the database backup schedule for different types of database backups including files and filegroups backup. 

  • Install SQL Server service packs and updates. Configure and manage SQL Security settings. 

  • Make system design recommendations according to Microsoft SQL Server best practices. 

  • Capacity Planning, Database Performance Monitoring, Database Tuning, and troubleshooting application slowness and performance issues related to SQL Server. 

  • Responsible for T-SQL query tuning. Responsible for database migrations and server upgrades. 

  • Perform SQL Server integration with enterprise applications. 

  • Server Upgrades (From one version of SQL Server to the next). 

  • Health Checks / Report Analysis / Performance Tuning

Your background:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in computer engineering or equivalent. 

  • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration and managing multiple MS SQL 2016 (or higher) RDBMS on large systems. 

  • Extensive experience writing T-SQL and stored procedures and query tuning on high transaction systems.  

  • Experienced in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). 

  • Sound knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database architecture and SQL/T-SQL.  

  • Proficient with SQL server profiler for monitoring and troubleshooting database activity and performance. 

  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. 

  • Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication, Partitioning. 

  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, and system sprocs). 

  • Ability to develop procedure documents and maintain detailed database related documents.  

  • Innovative approach to work, constantly looking for upgrading the system to more efficient and effective new technologies 

  • Knowledge on Azure SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database
