Description

Mission statement:

At Hitachi Energy our purpose is advancing a sustainable energy future for all. We bring power to our homes, schools, hospitals, and factories. Join us and work with fantastic people, while learning and developing yourself on projects that have a real impact to our communities and society. Bring your passion, bring your energy, and be part of a global team that appreciates a simple truth: Diversity + Collaboration = Great Innovation.

Short-Term Load Forecasting (STLF) tools are essentials for predicting energy demand soon. These tools rely on historical data to train forecasting models, with inputs like weather forecasts enhancing the accuracy of load predictions. STLF can offer forecasts for varying time horizons, spanning from a single day to several weeks, and with a resolution down to a few minutes.

Within the domain of STLF, a specialized version known as Very Short-Term Load Forecasting (VSTLF) focuses on predicting energy demand for shorter time spans, typically a few hours. To improve the precision of VSTLF forecasts, it incorporates real-time telemetry data from the previous hours in addition to the forecasts generated by STLF. VSTLF serves as a crucial tool for monitoring the energy consumption of distribution companies, aiding both Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in forecasting energy consumption at regular intervals, such as hourly. The aim is to ensure that energy consumption remains within an acceptable range. Deviations from this range prompt operators to take corrective actions to prevent overconsumption or under consumption.

Your responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing algorithms employed in the formulation of VSTLF.

  • Examine the sensitivity of VSTLF forecasts to changes in model parameters.

  • Measure the impact of these formulation adjustments on computational efficiency and forecast accuracy.

  • Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background:

  • You hold degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent.

  • Regression analysis and data processing.

  • Fluency in English in reading and written.
