Accountabilities

Management of training, learning and competency evaluation processes, quality assurance, data and resolution of issues.

Understand clients’ and Operator training requirements and liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective training delivery and competency management for the Maintenance Services staff.

Lead the development of the Training and Competency needs for the Maintenance Services contract staff, in accordance with the requirements of The Operator.

Evaluate performance of training, trainers and retraining activities and identify opportunities to develop and deliver new courses in response to business needs.

Arrange tests and assessment of staff and ensure the use of updated training and competency material.

Ensure that the training and competency management requirements are met throughout the Maintenance organization.

Ensure that the Competency Management utilized for the Maintenance Services contract is kept current and updated at all times, for the Hitachi Rail Maintenance Services team.

Ensure that the required periodic Competency Assessment schedule is adhered to at all times.

Sets clear training & development objectives to drive year on year performance improvements.

Organize an annual training calendar to derive the annual programme of training and workshops.

Keep abreast of training trends, methods, tools, developments and best practices that can be applied to achieve learning that is more effective and use this knowledge to propose innovative modes of delivery.

Design blended training materials, courses and programmes and produce related training materials.

Plan, manage and maintain training related records, in accordance with the requirements of The Operator and the internal needs of Hitachi Rail

Any other duties commensurate with the post that could be reasonably required.

Contribute to maintain the company’s safety, quality and environment management system.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

Holder of a relevant Training Management certification, such as :

  • City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training;
  • City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Training and Development;
  • City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Learning and Development;
  • NVQ Level 3 in Direct Training;
  • CIPD Certificate in Training Practice;
  • City & Guilds Further and Adult Education Certificate - C&G 7301/7306;

Desired Skills/ Knowledge

  • In-depth subject knowledge and able to conduct training need analysis.
  • Demonstrates confidence in influencing and explains things well to compel others.
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem solving skills.
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools.
  • Familiar with traditional and modern training processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strategic and creative mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, trainers and management.
  • Command of oral and written English.

Education/Qualifications

  • CIPD Certificate in Training Practice;
  • City & Guilds Further and Adult Education Certificate - C&G 7301/7306;
  • Bachelors Degree
  • University Degree
