Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Controls Specialist will create, modify and analyze technical and purchasing document that follow customer specification and supplier documentation on assignments of medium to high complexity using established solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and become familiar with customer requirements and specifications for various high power/high voltage transformers

  • Acquire knowledge about controls and monitoring systems of a high-power transformer and remain up to date with latest technological development.

  • Create (or revise) purchase documents to prepare the bill of materials that will support the transformer build.

  • Prepare the content of transformer instruction manuals and validate supplier data is up to date.

  • Technically support electrical, mechanical and project management departments

  • Provide technical support to production line, customers or in-service departments

  • Understand and adapt to new control and monitoring technology and products

  • Be the contact point and focal between Hitachi ABB and different controls/monitoring suppliers.

  • Support the production line, internal customers, other departments and customers

  • Identifies in scope/out of scope requests and provides estimations

  • Collaborates with the supply chain function, reviews vendor documentation, provides design related evaluation of proposals for non-standard materials and equipment.

  • Reviews with Supply chain and logistics departments to drive material cost reduction opportunities.

  • Shares knowledge and experience across own business unit and beyond. Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of project design assignments.

  • Ideal candidate will have high level of accountability, passion for results and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical technical expertise

  • 5 years of relevant experience

  • Bilingual (French and English)
