HR Strategy

Supports the Country Managing Director (CMD) in customer and market driven strategies to ensure profitable growth in the Country.  Defines the strategic HR priorities to support the business strategy.   Leverages Business Units and global programs where applicable, and develops Country-specific initiatives where appropriate.

  • Understands business needs and mirrors the business structure to meet the business needs by focusing on the transformational and strategic aspects of HR.
  • Helps management team to align employees capabilities (numbers, professions, locations, competencies) to the mid-to-long-term business needs.
  • Develops culture and climate, and coaches line managers to become excellent leaders.
  • Works as consultant to the business in concert with the other HR professionals to drive efficiency and effectiveness by proactively managing people and organizational challenges.
  • Aligns the HR Strategy to the Business Strategy and implements HR policies at the local level.
  • Provides Talent management support for local management.
  • Ensures and maintains a powerful talent “pipeline” for the business.
  • Provides change management support for local management.
  • Provides support for employee relation issues if appropriate.
  • Ensures that all HR activities contribute to the success of the business.
  • Represents the business units in surfacing requirements to HR programs, activities, processes and solutions.

HR process implementation

  • Ensures implementation of all HR rules, standards, governance and control processes in Japan. Implements Global compensation and benefit programs, workforce planning and productivity improvement programs, performance management, talent management, talent acquisition, and other processes as applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to HR policy.
  • Ensure adherence to the standards on OHS and Compliance.
  • Monitor and guide the managers on the Talent Acquisition overall process
  • Lead and ensure that managers conducts Talent Management related programs
  • Coach managers in processing performance management
  • Implements and delivers talent and learning programs to attract, retain and develop leaders and professionals for the organization.
  • Align employee and organization development needs.
  • Guide managers in identifying candidates and decisions for promotion/demotion/termination.
  • Support the expatriate process including HR Operation team actions.
  • Identify compensation & benefit requirements based on financials, benefits, grading and HR policies.
  • Guide management with salary review decisions

HR process improvement

  • Carries out process assessments for the local HR practices and ensures process improvement actions are implemented.  Identifies, shares and implements functional best practices across the Business Units in Japan.

Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Management (HSSE)

  • Ensure and monitor all HSSE requirements in place in line with local regulations and the Global regulations.
  • Take role as Crisis Coordinator and ensure Japan BCP is implemented.

Representation and Fiduciary duty

  • Represents the company in interactions internally and externally in order to communicate and reinforce local business and people strategy in the Country. 
  • Having fiduciary duty as country HR Manager.   Has responsibility for the fiduciary topics across the country and coordinate cross BU topics as the manager of HR.

People leadership and development

  • Ensures that HR area responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies.  Leads functional competency assessments for HR staff and ensures appropriate personal development actions are defined and implemented.

Project participation

  • Lead and participate in global/local project where appropriate. 

Support other HR functions.

  • Support HR Operation Team, CoE (C&B, Talent & Learning, Global Mobility etc.) and stakeholders with HR expertise if necessary.

【Education background】 University degree

【Certification】Health & Safety Advisor (安全衛生管理者) (preferable) 

【Skills】 PC skill (Outlook, SharePoint, MS-Office)

【Experience】 At least 12-year experience in HR

【Knowledge】 Solid knowledge of Japanese Labor Laws

【Language】 Fluent in Japanese & English
