What you’ll be doing
Role Overview
HEU is looking to recruit a UK qualified Commercial Lawyer / Company Solicitor (up to 5 years PQE*) to be based at Hitachi’s European Regional Headquarters at Sefton Park, Stoke Poges on a fixed term for 12-months (maternity cover).
The Commercial Lawyer / Company Solicitor will be responsible for providing legal advice to HEU and the wider Hitachi Group, both in the UK and elsewhere.
The ideal candidate will have a broad company, commercial and compliance background.
Provision of legal and compliance advice and support
Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of legal documents, including: manufacturing agreements, distribution agreements, software licence and maintenance agreements, framework agreements and supply chain agreements
Work cross functionally with other corporate support functions and with other Hitachi Group companies to assess and address legal implications in commercial transactions and compliance matters
Support corporate transactions and initiatives
Support the continuous improvement of legal processes to ensure legal objectives are met
Instruct and manage external legal advisors as required ensuring cost-effective, timely support
Advise on and ensure compliance with data protection laws, regulations, and best practices, including but not limited to GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and other relevant frameworks
Provide advice and support on regulatory compliance including bribery, anti-corruption and competition law matters
Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements
Ensure the provision of training to the company on legal and compliance matters as appropriate
What you bring to the team
We’re looking for a team player, who is motivated by delivering great work and the Hitachi vision. The role will be a mixture of remote-hybrid work with 2 days working at Hitachi Sefton Park, Slough, London Office.
A current practising certificate issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority
Degree level education
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including persuasion, consulting and counselling skills, and the ability to clearly explain complex issues and concepts to non-lawyers
An open and persuasive personality with presence and natural authority
Excellent business judgement, strategic thinking and ability
The ability to analyse complex business, technical and legal situations and develop and implement recommendations that meet the business, technical and legal needs of the company
Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations
Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to diplomatically and effectively resolve issues
Trained and practiced in an established and reputable law firm preferred
*PQE is for guidance only. Candidates with more or less PQE will be considered on merit.
