Summary: As one of the Regional Headquarters for Hitachi, Ltd. corporate procurement, the Value Integration Division (VID) of Hitachi America, Ltd. serves as a focal point for collaboration and synergy development across procurement organizations of Hitachi Group of companies in the Americas. The successful candidate will contribute to VID’s mission through supporting procurement related value chain initiatives that require collaboration across Hitachi group companies in coordination with Hitachi Ltd corporate procurement.
Initiatives include the promotion of sustainable procurement and decarbonization programs, introduction of Hitachi resources such as e-Auction services, collecting information on supply management and industry trends, and the sharing of information across the Hitachi group through procurement conferences, online meetings, and other formats.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with various Hitachi Group companies and business units to understand, document, track, and fulfill business needs, including travel to company sites in the Americas region
Promote sustainable procurement and decarbonization programs
Promote Hitachi’s e-Auction service and other global procurement resources
Support planning and hosting of online and in-person conferences and webinars
Collect and report on supply management trends and best practices
Develop presentations and reference materials on corporate programs to share with regional companies
Create monthly and quarterly reports on regional activities
Support risk management and cost reduction initiatives
Enhance and distribute reports on commodity prices for raw materials
Monitor and report on disruptions to supply chains for Hitachi group Business Continuity
Support supplier management and data analysis for preferred supplier programs
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field required
Experience of 1 - 3 years in supply management or related field preferred
Japanese language proficiency (written and spoken) preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation, and project management skills
Familiarity with strategic sourcing and category management practices
Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail along with ability to discover potential risks
Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations for improvement
Team player, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and work in a multi-cultural setting
Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and stimulating environment
Self-motivated; focused individual with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
