Description
Hitachi Energy is seeking you as Global Supplier Quality and Development Engineer (SQE) for their transformer business unit. You will be the global responsible for the preventive supplier quality assurance and delivery performance improvement activities in the category of digital devices. The role will involve qualifying and auditing the suppliers, monitoring the performance, initiating the performance improvement activities for the strategic suppliers, and working closely with the category managers globally to contribute to the sourcing strategy from quality perspective. You will also be responsible for resolving the critical quality issues of the global suppliers within the category and leading the critical parts/materials approval process standardization at global level following APQP methodology. As SQE you will be reporting to the Global Supply Quality and Development Manager.
Your responsibilities
Supplier Qualification: You evaluate the quality management system of the suppliers and align on corrective actions with the suppliers and follow-up the resolution
Supplier Assessment (On-site Audits): You plan and conduct the required supplier on-site audits, including assessment reporting, corrective action plan alignment with the suppliers and verify the effective closure of corrective action plan items by the supplier side
Parts Qualification: You lead the production part approval process (PPAP) for the new supplier parts/materials, including the coordination of trial parts and first article inspection activities with the factory quality
Supplier Non-Conformity Resolution: You will lead the non-conformity resolution process with the suppliers in case of the escalated technical issues (software and hardware related) from the factories and ensure the effective root-cause analysis and the countermeasure implementation by the suppliers
Supplier Performance Monitoring: You monitor and consolidate the supplier delivery and quality KPI’s, the critical non-conformities escalated from the factories. Identify the top concern suppliers within the category.
Supplier Performance Improvement: You lead the supplier performance improvement actions for the targeted suppliers to meet the customer and the Hitachi Energy factories’ expectations (following DMAIC and/or 8D methodology)
Interface with Other Functions and the suppliers: You closely collaborate with the Category teams to support the implementation of Category strategy. Function as liaison between SCM, Technology, Quality and Operations and the Suppliers to prioritize supplier development needs at global level
Quality Projects: You complete special quality and continuous improvement projects such as Advanced Product Quality Planning, Lean Six Sigma, supplier manuals, etc. in line with the yearly Business Unit Supplier Quality targets
Your background
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in engineering: preferably electrical and electronical, computer, mechanical or mechatronics (or similar)
5+ years of relevant work experience in one of the fields: product development, production, quality assurance, or supplier development with specific focus on electronic devices/components in the energy, automotive, aerospace and/or in electronics industries.
Experience in digital components hardware assembly processes and related critical to quality process and design aspects
Experience with software design, development and testing and quality assurance processes and software safety and security standards
Familiar with problem solving methodologies (e.g. DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis, etc…) and interest to work with external suppliers for quick problem resolution (design, software and manufacturing issues)
Proven experience with the process audits, APQP/PPAP, FMEA, Process Control Plan
Familiarity with ISO-9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and external auditor certification
Basic knowledge of transformers and their application in different segments is a plus
Willingness to travel globally and fluency in English both written and spoken
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to create a collaborative environment for accomplishing project objectives
