Description

As Global SCM Project Manager you lead the planning and the execution of SCM-owned projects of high complexity and/or broad scale for the Transformer Tank components, where cross-functional contribution and alignment is required, and a dedicated project management structure is key to succeed in the project. As a recognized project management professional, the global project manager for tanks will ensure the project deliverables are met on-time and in accordance with quality standards, Hitachi Energy policies, contractual agreements, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, and the allocated budget resources. In case the project leadership resides in another function, you represent the SCM function (materials, suppliers, technical solutions, logistics concepts, etc.) in the project, making the link between the project team and the SCM specialists.

In this role you will contribute to define and maintain the projects portfolio and connect to regional and Business Unit stakeholders to understand the main challenges and ongoing initiatives.

You identify gaps to address and run adequate root cause analyses to create the business cases accordingly and make recommendation to the management for projects.

Your responsibilities

  • Understand project sponsor(s) expectation(s), define stakeholders' group, agree upon project objectives and deliverables, propose project performance measurement system

  • Define the profile of resources needed and select the project members based on the management recommendations, provide estimate of costs, lead time and quality for key activities and get the budget approved by the sponsor

  • Define detailed project plan activities and schedule, define milestones and risk management plans, organize and lead Project Review meeting, Initiate and keep up to date the project documentation and submit deliverables for the gate approvals

  • Lead the project allocate project tasks, and motivate and monitor internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones and provide performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects

  • Act as key contact for the senior management and as escalation point for project issues, build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with them, raise concerns to higher management levels in case of deviations vs plan and propose actions to close the identified gaps

  • Monitor the quality and delivery performance of the external suppliers in close coordination with factories

  • Act as cross functional lead to enable design standardization in tanks globally and work with Engineering to implement “Design for Manufacturing” in tank design process

  • Ensure that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi Energy policies including health, safety, and environmental policies

  • Drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the stakeholders, prepare training package and plan for handover to receiving unit, execute training to relevant functions and hand over project documentation to relevant team(s)

Your background

  • A bachelor’s degree or above, Mechanical Engineering or similar

  • Proven experience in Project Management in global/complex projects industrial environment, preferably Engineer to Order with focus on Tank manufacturing preferred

  • 7+ years of working experience in technical, production, quality, sales, or related management position

  • Flexibility to travel a significant % of time (up to 30-40%)

  • PMP certification preferred

  • Demonstrated capability to build positive team environment, to motivate others and to encourage open communication, responsibility, and accountability

  • Ability to work under pressure efficiently, open-minded, positive, and persistent. Flexibility to travel long distances and for significant periods of time

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all levels of the organization from very operational to top management

  • Good knowledge of SAP and projects' planning software

  • Excellent written and oral communication in English
