Business Unit Transformers’ Supply Chain function is committed to further strengthen its drive in the area of supplier and material sustainability in order to contribute to Hitachi Energy’s sustainability vision.

In this role, you will drive the Business Unit (BU) Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy development and implementation working closely with the Transformers Business Unit SCM Management team and Business Unit Sustainability Head. The SCM Sustainability strategy consists of three pillars: supplier sustainability, material sustainability, material compliance.

At the same time, the BU SCM Sustainability Head will be taking the end-to-end responsibility of the supplier sustainability management pillars (from process definition to implementation and monitoring/reporting for the whole Business Unit).

Your responsibilities

1) Business Unit Head of SCM Sustainability responsibilities

Drive the Business Unit Supply Chain Sustainability Roadmap:

  • Lead the development of the Business Unit SCM Sustainability strategy and roadmap implementation in collaboration with the regional SCMs, the global Category Managers, the BU Sustainability Head and Hitachi Energy SCM management

  • Define mid/long-term targets and lead annual target setting process within SCM

  • Contribute to the cross-functional sustainability projects from SCM function.

  • In collaboration with Hitachi Energy SCM team, monitor upcoming sustainability requirements from customers as well as legislations impacting SCM and bring clarity of the requirements to the SCM teams

Leadership:

  • Lead a team of 2 direct reports in charge of: Material compliance and material sustainability pillars

  • Coordinate the team to create a consolidated SCM Sustainability Agenda

  • Drive the clarity of cross functional roles and responsibilities within the Business unit and ensure the reporting mechanisms for each pillar

Communication:

  • Structure, collect and organize the information related to the Sustainability activities and prepare reports with the aim to provide information useful at execution level

  • Lead the sustainability communication within Transformers SCM community, with key stakeholders of other functions, leadership teams and HE SCM Management

Continuous Improvement and Training:

  • Ensure all SCM Sustainability processes are defined within SCM Lead operating model (Standard process flows, Aligned RACI matrixes)

  • Build sustainable processes through creating and/or coordinating all related trainings on required tools and methods

2) Lead Supplier Sustainability Management Pillar:

  • Create the SCM Supplier sustainability processes roadmap for the BU and regions

  • Create the BU level standardized process flow for supplier sustainability legislations (GSCA, EU due diligence, Canada Forced and Child Labor Act and others)

  • Clarify the Roles and Responsibilities withing the BU for related functions and regions

  • Coordinate and ensure timely implementation of SCM Sustainability processes in the regions.

  • Develop related training materials for supplier sustainability process implementation.

  • Train the SCM teams for on-site sustainability assessments and lead the supplier on-site assessments for critical suppliers.

  • Lead our supplier sustainability assessment and ranking program enabled by our external service provider EcoVadis (or other in case of change).

  • Create Ecovadis score improvement process for strategic suppliers.

  • Lead the Supplier sustainability development program expansion in Transformers.

  • In collaboration with all regions and Category management, drive definition and optimization of related KPIs

Your background

  • More than 10 years of experience in an equivalent industry

  • Leader with strong communication and influencing skills in global industrial organizations

  • Previous leadership experience in strategy/roadmap creation in supply base management and/or in Sustainability

  • In depth and successful experience of implementing global sustainability program(s) in large, international organization(s), preferably with focus on Supplier Sustainability e.g: German Supply Chain Act, Ecovadis implementation and/or leading similar programs)

  • In-depth understanding of supplier sustainability requirements such labor & human rights, sustainable procurement, environmental, safety and ethics

  • Good understanding and previous experience with the material sustainability initiatives such as Life Cycle Assessments, Carbon zero programs or green material introduction projects with the suppliers)

  • Previous Experience with conducting supplier sustainability and/HSE audits is a plus

  • Customer focus with ability to build effective working relationships and ability to inspire others

  • Knowledge of SAP Ariba, S/4Hana and Ecovadis is a plus

  • Strong communication and presentation skills on executive adequate level

  • Fluent in English, oral and written
