Description

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Supplier Quality and Development Engineer (SQE) for their transformer business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance supplier performance, ensure compliance with quality standards, and drive continuous supplier development initiatives across our global supply base in the category of conductors.

The global SQE will be reporting to the Global Supply Quality and Development Manager and working closely with the Global Category Manager for conductors to realize category strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Category Quality Roadmap: In line with global category roadmap, develop and execute comprehensive supplier quality agenda to ensure sustainable quality in the category

  • Supplier Qualification: Evaluate the quality management system of the suppliers and align on corrective actions with the suppliers and follow-up the resolution

  • Supplier Assessment (On-site Audits): Plan and conduct the required supplier on-site audits, corrective action plan alignment with the suppliers. Verify the effective closure of corrective action plan items by the supplier side

  • Parts Qualification: Lead the production part approval process (PPAP) for the new supplier parts/materials, including the coordination of trial parts and first article inspection activities with the factory quality

  • Supplier Non-Conformity Resolution: Lead the non-conformity resolution process with the suppliers in case of the escalated technical issues from the factories and ensure the effective root-cause analysis and the countermeasure implementation by the suppliers

  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Monitor and consolidate the supplier delivery and quality KPI’s, the critical non-conformities escalated from the factories. Identify the top concern suppliers within the category

  • Supplier Performance Improvement: Lead the supplier performance improvement actions for the targeted suppliers to meet the customer and the Hitachi Energy factories’ expectations (following DMAIC and/or 8D methodology)

  • Interface with Other Functions and the suppliers: Closely collaborate with the Category teams to support the implementation of Category strategy. Function as liaison between SCM, Technology, Quality and Operations and the Suppliers to prioritize supplier development needs at global level

  • Quality Projects: Complete special quality and continuous improvement projects such as Advanced Product Quality Planning, Lean Six Sigma, supplier manuals, etc. in line with the yearly BU SQ targets
     

Your background

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in one of the disciplines: mechanical, electrical, material or production engineering (or similar technical discipline)

  • 8+ years of relevant quality assurance, manufacturing, supplier development or other operational experience from international production companies

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers at global level

  • Responsible team player with structured, proactive, self-driven, and result-oriented work approach

  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards (e.g., ISO-9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) and auditing techniques

  • Knowledge of electrical winding technology and magnet wire and CTC manufacturing process is a plus

  • Experience working with Quality and Continuous Improvement practices (e.g. Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis, etc…)

  • Proven experience with the process audits, APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control and inspection test plan creation

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and fluency in English both written and spoken
