We seek for a Transportation, Trade & Logistics Manager is responsible for sourcing, planning and execution of heavy lift transportation for the region Asia, Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Turkey (APMEA). You will be part of the APMEA Supply Chain Management Team which consists of diverse highly skilled senior professionals with multinational backgrounds and high integrity. Your main responsibility is to manage and develop the transportation team including its individual team members and ensure safe and competitive transportation throughout the APMEA region. You are expected to continuously develop and optimize the transportation organization, not limited to its processes and operations. You will be the most important link between supply chain management and the operations teams in the 17 factories and 10 Service Units under your responsibility to ensure seamless execution and information between all stake holders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe operation for heavy lift transportation by having qualified forwarders managing the heavy lift transportations from our factories to and at the customer sites.
  • Oversee heavy lift operations of all 17 factories and 10 Service Units.
  •  Initiate and drive implementation of strategic cost savings initiatives and risk mitigation projects.
  • Be up to date with the latest trade regulations from our trade compliance department and ensure compliance in the APMEA region.
  • Ensure all transports are executed with approved suppliers.
  • Ensure that forwarders, factories and service units are working in accordance to the Hitachi Energy standards, processes, roles and responsibilities.
  • Regularly collect demand and ensure adequate level of supply or available supply capacity. Act as first level of escalation for supplier issue resolution/hot topics including claims management both for heavy lift and general cargo related topics.
  • Support international cargo and export and import processes.
  • Manage strategic sourcing for heavy lift transportation.
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with forwarders with consideration of the busi-ness needs.
  • Support factories and service units in their daily sourcing needs.
  • Bundle projects and volumes to create buying power.
  • Divide and allocate volumes between forwarders to ensure lowest sourcing risk and lowest total cost.
  • Provide heavy lift transportation quotations to tendering teams and project management.
  • Heavy lift transportation budget and forecast responsibility.
  • Budget responsibility of the transportation, trade and logistic department.
  • Ensure that all the factories and service units are working in accordance with the tariffs and agreements with the forwarders.
  • Analysis cost slippages coming from transportation in large projects in order to implement lessons learnt for future projects. Cost reduction reporting into SFDB.
  • Ensure that the APMEA Transportation, Trade and Logistic team is properly organized, staffed, and skilled to live up to all points mentioned above.
  • Guide, motivate, and develop direct and indirect subordinates following HR policies, and coordinate talent management and succession planning within the Transportation, Trade and Logistics organization.

Your background:

  • University degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Foreign Trade, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain management, transportation management, logistics or equivalent.
  • Large plus if you have experience of Power Transformer industry.
  • Good knowledge of customs regulation, legal, contractual, and commercial terms.
  • Strong cost and technical analytical skills (cost breakdown, value chain, total cost of ownership, etc.)
  • Self-starter who drives projects until the end.
  • Good management, communication, negotiation, planning and organization skills.
