Description

Responsibilities

  • Carry out service installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair work and other service-related activities on medium and large power transformers.
  • Exceeding customer expectations by understanding and anticipating current and potential needs.
  • Uses a great deal of analytical skills and makes decisions on complex and technical issues.
  • Perform tasks requiring the ability to read and work from applicable electrical and mechanical drawings, and/or instruction and technical manuals.
  • Uses computers and internal/external computer software to set up functions, enter data or process information related to site visits.
  • Perform applicable internal work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, contoured joints, etc.
  • Suggesting product and process improvements within the business to enhance operations and customer service.
  • Ensure all site work is performed to meet proper safety requirements.

  • Repair, re-gasket, assemble and disassemble equipment as directed. With direction, perform activities requiring use of all applicable mechanical hand tools.
  • Participates in department administrative tasks.
  • Follows scheduling and administrative procedures.
  • Participates in technical training.
  • Prepare technical reports following site work.
  • With Direction Operate and maintain Vacuum Oil Processors (VOP’s) and oil handling equipment. Complete vacuum oil processing logs.
  • Have a strong understanding of the theory of operation and construction of transformers.
     

Your background

  • A formal education, higher vocational training diploma/university degree in a technical field (electrical, mechanical, etc.) and minimum 2 years of work experience.
  • Must be fluent in local and English language.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously (as required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mid-level computer operation skills, including word processing, database programs, spreadsheets, electronic mail, and Department utilized software application programs.
  • Customer focused, ability to communicate effectively, work within a team, and follow instructions as well as be able to work with no supervision.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mind-set.
  • Openness to upward mobility.
  • Experience welding tasks is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 85%
