Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Control Center Maintenance Engineer for the MTA Main Operation Control Center in Baltimore, MD with troubleshooting expertise and knowledge of CBTC and ATS systems.

This individual will also be an expert in using various PTEs.  The Control Center Maintenance Engineer will serve as the primary troubleshooting and repair resource in the event of a system failure within a Hitachi subsystem.  The Control Center Maintenance Engineer will also assist the MTA in performing corrective maintenance actions and recovery operations.  This resource is tasked with execution and support of help desk, onsite and remote maintenance and will actively monitor system performance logs, string charts, event recording logs, and other data for diagnosis and resolution of issues.  In addition to assisting the customer with actual failures as they occur, the Control Center Maintenance Engineer will perform special testing and investigations as needed.

Accountabilities:

  • Act as Hitachi’s primary onsite interface with MTA on operational matters
  • Ensure the execution of help desk activities in alignment with contractual requirements
  • Guarantee routine maintenance, LRU replacement and system health
  • check task starting, performance and closing including associated logistics and spares activities
  • Ensure onsite and remote maintenance procedures implementation
  • Support field activities to include updates, changes, and testing
  • Ensure the execution of starting, performance and closing of onsite and remote interventions
  • Ensure trouble shooting execution and fault finding analysis
  • Ensure monitoring and analysis of Reliability & Maintainability figures and operational performance of in-service equipment
  • Ensure the update and maintenance of “as maintained“ software and hardware configurations
  • Ensure the issuing of reporting for onsite and remote maintenance activities in alignment with contractual SLAs
  • Identify, implement, and track support needs and system modifications
  • Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to monitor and control activities leading to the successful implementation of engineering changes
  • Monitor CBTC subsystems for failures, exceptions, and threshold issues
  • Complete adherence to quality standards and procedures
  • Develop technical reports and presentations for senior management as needed  
  • Requires on‐call status
    • After hours and periodic shift work may occasionally be required
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Escalate to Program Manager and SME (on-call services) if no solution is available

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

  • ACSES II PTC, CBTC and back-office experience
  • Interpersonal skills a must
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, task oriented, and able to follow written procedures
  • Able to read and follow written procedures, network diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics 
  • Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in railroad signaling projects or maintenance
  • Railway Safety Rules & Regulations
  • Testing & fault finding
  • Incident/accident investigation
  • Knowledge of technologies
  • Statistical analysis and “data management”
  • Use of maintenance tools
  • Windows and Unix server skills to include Command Prompt and Terminal commands
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Strong Leadership and Communication skills
  • Solid documentation experience with Visio, Word, and Excel
  • Field experience acceptable in lieu of lab experience  

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area or equivalent technical background
  • Three to five years of experience in maintenance activities or equivalent
