Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)
We are looking for an Electrical Hardware Designer to join our team in Toronto.
The successful candidate will assist in the hardware electrical design of new or revised products, equipment, and installations, utilizing processes based on established engineering principles to meet requirements.
Additionally, they will be involved with designs of moderate complexity.
Key Requirements:
- Must be able to assist in the design of new or revised products, equipment, and installations, utilizing processes based on established engineering principles to meet the customer and Railway requirements
- Responsible for working harmoniously in a team environment while maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the job and in relations with others
- Occasional travel may be required to customer sites, up to three times per year
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electric Engineering or a closely related field
- Up to 3 years of industry experience with Cabling; Grounding techniques and Surge Protection
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamental Electrical Engineering Principles: Power circuits design; Analog and Digital Electronic circuits including Microprocessors & Telecommunications circuits
- Engineering tools: CAD system (AutoCAD Electrical); Multi-meter; Oscilloscope and Protocol Analyzers
- Professional communication skills to convey messages without ambiguity
- Professional writing skills to allow documents, work packages, etc. to be prepared in a clear and concise format with sufficient information so that further clarification is not required
- Ability to follow directions and work instructions, and to use good judgement in the performance of assigned work
- Ability to present pros and cons for various courses of action
- Keeping track of progress on all assigned tasks
- Verifying that all assigned work has been completed accurately
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in Railway Signalling industry
- Formulating or contributing to the development of new designs
- Exposure to devising and running tests to verify functionality, and identifying and solving problems
- Reviewing any applicable specifications, standards, rules, etc. and ensuring that the appropriate actions resulting from this review have been taken
- Implementing designs using good design practice and applicable standards and guidelines
- Being proficient in the skills and current with the technology of the discipline
- Making efficient re-use of existing designs
- Eligible for PEO certification
