The opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer for NPI and R&D related to IEEE transformer components. This 
is an individual contributor role with some leadership opportunities. This position will play an important role in developing 
and enhancing the performance of transformer components manufactured in our Alamo, TN factory. This position will be 
part of the North America Regional Technology Center and report to the North America Transformer Hub Engineering team.

How You Will Make an Impact:
 As part of the R&D and Implementation team, you create new technologies and products for high-voltage components as well as ensure new technologies are prepared to be launched into production.
 You lead development projects independently and ensure that they meet the time, budget and quality requirements.
 You work as part of a project team to prepare new technologies for production through DFM and documentation
creation (manufacturing drawings, sales reference documents, etc)
 You conduct feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products and simulate their expected performances.
 You arrange prototyping and testing activities to verify new technologies and new products.
 You share your knowledge and findings from R&D with production environment both locally and in other facilities
abroad.
 You offer technical support in domain of expertise to other departments as needed (product management, business development, marketing and sales, engineering…).
 You take part in international pre-standardization and standardization work.
 You keep up with the latest technology solutions, international standards, market trends and customer requirements related to transformer components.

Your Backgroun:

Required:
 A minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required, with a preference for
Masters/PhD and at least 5 years of product development experience.
 Candidate must already have permanent work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States. 
 Competence in using CAD tools
 Team-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and results-focused work attitude.
 Proven experience as project leader.
 Creative and innovative mindset.
 Willing to travel 25% to Alamo, TN factory if not local.

Preferred:
 Extensive knowledge of the design and development of IEEE HV components, preferably tap changers and/or
switches.
 Experience with design of mechanisms
 Proficient in Creo 3D CAD, simulation tools (e.g. Ansys, COMSOL), Windchill, SAP 
 Experience in reducing costs and applying lean-six-sigma method is preferred
