Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Intern - Engineering Installation/Civil Engineering for Summer, 2025 who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist Construction manager in site coordination meetings with various project entities, client/Authorities/Partners/Contractors/Subcontractors.
  • Co-ordinate site activities including civil and technological works in accordance with project delivery plan
  • Co-operate with the Project team, in order to define the planning and the interface milestone with other parties (e.g. sub-contractors)
  • Co-operate with the Supply Planning in order to define the Logistic plan, consistent to the Project Plan
  • Comply with policies and procedures as they relate to telecommunications specifications and standards throughout the rail industry in the USA.
  • Support Technology supervisors with the day-to-day field operations of Subcontractors
  • Track and verify all works beyond the contract scope of sub-contractor
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle stressful situations with good judgment, tact, and diplomacy
  • Interface with various internal and external stakeholders on assigned project coordination
  • Maintain project notes, which include daily activity job completion log

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Strong people skills: the ability to work with large groups of engineering and technical personnel as well as one-on-one interaction with staff
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential business information.
  • Strong relevant technical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

  • General understanding of Construction and/or Project Management techniques, planning, and scheduling skills
  • Understanding of engineering principles and processes

Education:

  • Current Engineering or Construction Management student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2025 and December, 2026

Languages:

  • English Proficiency
