Internship Duration: January 2025 to April or August 2025 (4 or 8 months) Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Hardware Engineering team from January to April or August 2025 (4 or 8 months) at our Hitachi Rail office in North York.
Hitachi Rail provides signaling systems for metros and light rail systems. Our solutions provide efficient, safe and green transportation solutions for people around the world.
The successful student will provide support with hardware design and prototyping activities, and documentation release.
In this position, you will be able to see the processes utilized when developing products in an engineering environment, which will vastly improve your understanding of company hardware products and their application in electrical designs.
Key Requirements:- Assist with the design of Vehicle On-board Controllers
- Help with the design and prototyping of the test setups used for the Qualification of hardware products
- Become familiar and use the company process
- Assist our team with the release of the Engineering documentation
- Create, review, and verify hardware requirements
Required Skills and Experience:- The successful candidate should be working towards a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited university or college in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
- Completion of the second or third year of your undergraduate degree, or currently pursuing a master's degree.
- Possess good written and oral communication skills, familiarity with project work environment.
- Intermediate theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical components (e.g., transistor, resistor, capacitor, Zener diode, rectifier diode, digital logic, LED, etc.) and basic circuits.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and multi-task
- Ability to conceptually grasp the "big picture" and apply critical thinking to resolve issues
- Attention to detail and curiosity to understand the criticality of activities
- The ability to work 40 hours a week in a hybrid environment for the duration of the internship.
Preferred Qualification - Co-op student available for a 4 or 8-month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the completion of the internship.
